“Rose & Thorn Award Nominations”  

It is that time of year to nominate members of the Portland, Or, Leather community for the 8 ^th Annual Rose & Thorn Awards, presented by Blackout Leather Productions. 

Rose & Thorn Award Categories for 2009 are:

Business of the Year           

Non-Profit Business of the Year

            Leatherwoman of the Year

Leatherman of the Year

Community Choice Award of the Year

Please send all nominations to

  with the subject heading: Rose & Thorn Award Nominations. 

Please include the name of the person, title, business, organization, etc, and what award you are nominating them for, and a brief reason why you think they deserve this award.

Deadline for all nominations is midnight, Friday, July 18, 2009.

 Please submit your nominations by this date.

The BLP Board of Directors will determine winners based on community service in the last year from the communities nominations.  Any member of the Leather community is eligible to win awards with the exception of those listed below in the following paragraph.  Club officers, organizers, business owners, titleholders, behind-the-scenes workers, philanthropists, writers, columnists, authors, artists, producers, Leather/latex artisans and the like are sought as nominees. We are looking for nominees who have made contributions that have directly affected the Leather community in a positive way.

Not Eligible:  Blackout Leather Productions Board members are not eligible for nominations, except for the community choice award, unless they won that award in the past two years.  Any person, club, organization, business who has won the award in the last 2 years are also not eligible for the 2009 awards in the same category. 

The BLP Board of Directors will vote and decide this year's nomination recipients, with the exception of the Community Choice award.  The number of nominations a person receives does not influence the award.  It is the individual’s commitment and contribution to the leather community that counts.  This is an award, not a contest, so please do not submit multiple nominations for the same person in the same category. When the nomination deadline is over, we will post the nominations for the Community Choice award.  At that time, you may cast a vote for your personal favorite for the Community Choice award, please only vote one time.

Rose & Thorn Awards will be presented at the Victory Brunch on Sunday, August 9th, the last day of Leather Pride Week in Portland, Ore. Location for the Victory Brunch, and the Rose & Thorn Award Ceremony will be held at Greek Cusina, 404 SW Washington St, 2nd floor, Portland, Or.  

Entry to the Rose & Thorn Award Ceremony is free, and will start at noon.
